Visitation Policy

Same Day Surgery Center promotes and supports a patient and family-centered approach to care while maintaining safety and security for patients, caregivers, and physicians. There may be unique and extenuating circumstances that require compassionate exceptions to these guidelines.

1. For the safety of our patients and visitors, there may be some patient care areas that have limited access for visitors.

2. Visitors are allowed in the pre-op areas while a patient is waiting for surgery, preferably after the necessary preparations and assessments have been performed. Children (under 18 years of age) must have their parents present during the admission process.

3. Visitation for overnight hospitalized patients is from 7:30 a.m.-to 9:00 p.m., 7 days a week.

4. It is preferred to have no more than two visitors at any one time in a patient’s room, to ensure safety, consideration of patient care, and physical limitations of the space.

5. Children supervised by an adult other than the patient are welcomed. Children under the age of 14 years of age are expected to remain with the supervising adult. If the patient is a child, it is recommended that supervising adults do not have other children with them that they are responsible for.

6. If an adult visitor cannot care for themself then a support person for the visitor is required.

7. To keep our patients healthy, we request that visitors avoid visiting if they are experiencing any of the following symptoms: fever, cough, sore throat, runny nose/nasal congestion, muscle aches, fatigue, and/or diarrhea. Visitors are asked to perform hand hygiene before entering and upon leaving the patient’s room.

8. Disruptive behavior and unsafe practices by visitors are not acceptable. These situations will be addressed directly and promptly.

9. Patients, visitors, and patient's family members may use personal cameras for patient photographs if such use is permitted by the department and the patient, and such use will not compromise the privacy or security of others or interfere with Same Day Surgery Center operations. Same Day Surgery Center always reserves the right to prohibit the use of personal photography/video/audio recording devices on Same Day Surgery Center property.
